New Enhancements in Powerpay

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

We have introduced improvements to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Powerpay to strengthen account security while providing greater flexibility and control for administrators.

Overview

These updates improve how MFA is configured and enforced across different user types. Organizations can now better balance security requirements with user experience through more granular settings.

What’s new

  • Separate MFA settings for:

    • Powerpay users (administrators)

    • Powerpay Self Service users (employees)

  • Configurable Days to Remember settings for each user type

  • Enhanced visibility and control over MFA behavior

  • Audit tracking for all changes to MFA settings

Key Changes

  • Powerpay users (administrators): MFA is now required at every login by default to ensure maximum security.

  • Employee Self Service users: MFA reauthentication can be configured using a “Days to Remember” setting, allowing a more flexible login experience.

  • Existing customers: Have been updated to the new, more secure default requiring MFA at every login for Powerpay users.

Configuration

Payroll Administrators can manage MFA settings on the User & Contact Mgmt page.Closed From the Company menu, select User & Contact Mgmt.

Available settings:

  • Days to Remember – Powerpay users

    • Default: 0 days (MFA required at every login)

  • Days to Remember – Employee Self Service users

    • Default: 14 days (for new companies)

You can adjust these settings to align with your organization’s security policies.

Best Practice Recommendation

For optimal security, it is strongly recommended to:

  • Keep Powerpay user “Days to Remember” set to 0 days, ensuring MFA is required at every login

  • Periodically review MFA settings and audit logs to maintain compliance and security standards
