Business Entity Changes
A business entity change may include one of the following scenarios:
Change in CRA Business Number
A change to the 9-digit CRA Business Number (BN) requires a new payroll setup. This ensures that payroll history associated with the previous Business Number is kept separate from the new Business Number.
Change in Company Name
A change to the legal company name or “operating as” (O/A) business name requires an update to your payroll setup. In some situations, a new payroll account may also be required.
Business Ownership Change or Business Amalgamation
A change in business ownership or a business amalgamation requires a review and update of your payroll setup. In most situations, a new payroll account will be required.
